At a 4-day trail running event in the Bregenzerwald, I had the chance to test different products for running in the mountains.
After arriving at the Hotel Alpenblume in beautiful Damüls in Austria, there was a first run that same afternoon. The process in the next 3 days was well organized. Except for eating, running and relaxing, none of the participants had to worry about it.
I tested the Advice 5 hydration vest from Salomon, the VERTICS. Calfs , calf compression sleeves and the Ricon by Hoka One One running shoe as well as dynamic insoles by CURREX.

Warm up with the mountains and the SALOMON Active 5 hydration vest

I can only recommend the hydration vest from Salomon to everyone. If you want to complete a longer tour carefree and yet packed with everything necessary and useful, this is the right place for you.
Running vests from Salomon
The “endless” choice of vests and the good fit on the body (no wobbling/slipping) allow you to enjoy the fun of trail running in every respect. And it is ideal for short or long tours (even in flat terrain and in warm weather).

Product test VERTICS. Calfs calf compression cuffs for more endurance and lighter legs

The VERTICS. Calf’s compression cuffs for the calves felt really good after the first “difficult” donning, pleasantly light and hardly noticeable during the entire tour.
VERTICS. Calfs Calf Compression Cuffs
I felt a pleasant pressure, both uphill and downhill, good for my calves and supported them in their performance. It makes sense to put them on immediately after getting up on a tour in the morning for activation. After the tour, please keep it on (put your legs up if possible), as this promotes regeneration. What I like when it’s warm is the moisturizing of the calf cuffs from VERTICS. Then you can also cool down the body. Which I find very pleasant.

Now VERTICS. Buy Calfs!

Trails that a runner’s heart dreams of

The Ricon by HOKA One One, is a lightweight shoe that is more intended for the street. HOKA is characterized by its extremely thick cushioning in its shoe models, which, however, have hardly any drop. This means that you stand flat in the shoe and have straight off-road. Both uphill and downhill, you have good cushioning and control over the shoe (power transfer to the ground). The Ricon did an excellent job of having such a lightweight on its feet uphill and the cushioning was a blessing on gravel downhill. The rather slightly profiled sole worked well, only in very muddy passages it was a bit slippery. Overall excellent.

Collect summit crosses and distant views for the time afterwards

Mountains
In my shoes I wore a dynamic insole from CURREX, a Hamburg company. This is supposed to slow down the fatigue of the feet through a dynastic metatarsal bridge. The manufacturer promises that this will allow you to run longer runs and injury-free overall. My first impression was great. No typical sole feeling in the shoe, absolute freedom of movement and natural rolling behaviour possible. And no tired feet after the 4 days.
