Layla Mammi tests VERTICS. Sleeves in “Judas Goat” (9/7C)
Layla Mammi tests VERTICS. Sleeves in “Judas Goat” (9/7C)
Layla Mammi lives in the idyllic Pegnitz Valley in the Franconian Jura. An initial “base camp” has gradually become a second, permanent residence. This allows her to pursue her passion, climbing and bouldering and her profession as an engineer. Layla has been climbing for over 20 years and has already scored many TOP routes in the Franconian Jura and other climbing areas.

Layla climbs and trains about 2-3 times a week. Muscle soreness or elbow problems know you as good as not at all and if it pinches somewhere, e.g. after a campus board session, then you feel very clearly where the problem lies and finally deals with it very carefully. If necessary, a physiotherapist will help you with this. Only the left forearm close to the wrist is always prone to problems such as pumping or pulling. This also interferes from time to time when bouldering or climbing through difficult routes.

The “Judas Goat” route is located in the area around Königstein of the Amberger Wand in the middle part “Kühloch”. It is rated smooth 9 (7c) and is considered technically very demanding. In particular, endurance and finger strength are required. The first person was Thomas Meier (before 2012).
All information about the tour can be found on the website of Frankenjura.com, Judas Goat.

“On my second day of testing, I went to the Kühloch to try the “Judas Goat” route. I had already bouldered out the tour and spent a second, short after-work session there on a hot summer evening.
The route starts with a crisp, sustained entry boulder up to the 4th hook. This is followed by another sustained 18 meters with technical strength endurance moves on often flat holds and bad dulls for kicking.
The art for the ascent is not to get a “power failure” after the entry boulder and to get as little pump as possible in order to master the further, following boulder section on the belly and to be able to hold the flat holds up to the deflector.
Motivated by my positive experience with the sleeves on the bouldering wall, I put them on today before the warm-up and later joined the tour with the sleeves. I immediately had a good feeling and the usual imbalance between the right and left forearm was hardly noticeable.”

“I climbed the tour on the first attempt and was surprised myself at how good my forearms felt in the ascent. And that 4 days before the planned photo shoot with Stefan Riedl right here on this wall.
Layla’s feedback on VERTICS. Sleeves

Before the first test, I already felt the pumping sensation on my left forearm during the warm-up on the bouldering wall. It was very hot that day. I pulled the VERTICS. sleeves and immediately felt an improvement after a few moves on the wall. Little by little, the pumping sensation on my left arm disappeared until I no longer felt any difference to my right arm. I thought that was pretty cool.

“I will become VERTICS. Wear sleeves more often and continue to benefit from the positive effects such as more endurance, less arm pump and faster regeneration.”
